Here at Malarkey News, we’re starting to see the return of Joe Biden’s Democratic Party. As a long-serving Senator from Delaware – where industrial Wilmington and corporate friendly Chancery Court meet to form an old-school chamber of commerce community – President-Elect Biden found, and represented, the ever changing center of the Democratic Party. What does that center look like? First of all it looks younger. Data shows, for example, that a substantial majority of millennials support government action on climate change (an admittedly broad statement subject to interpretation) and that crosses party lines among self-described democrats, republicans, and independents. Generations of older adults have used lines like: if you are not progressive when you’re young, you have no heart; if not conservative when old, you have no brain. But the binary selection of progressive versus conservative – two packages which have a Venn diagram equal to the null set — is not how the future looks to this writer. Yes, there will be hard core positions on certain subjects, and there will continue to be litmus test single-issue voters. But here at Malarkey News we are pursuing an unabashedly centrist agenda. What does that mean for you? Drop in a comment below. More to come next week.
